Erica Petty

Erica Petty is a theatre artist, educator, and arts administrator living in Lək̓ wəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ territory. She has 20 years experience working professionally in Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA), principally as a Teaching Artist with a specialty in devising new works. Erica is a white, disabled, queer woman and a fierce advocate for the next generation, who has carefully built a collaborative practice for writing plays with youth to honour and uplift their voices and affirm their perspectives. Currently, Erica engages her collaborative skills to commission and produce new Canadian plays by professional artists in her role as the Artistic Producer at Story Theatre. She has held artistic and administrative roles with Intrepid Theatre, Theatre SKAM, Victoria Shakespeare Society, Kaleidoscope Theatre, and ArtsREACH. As an artist, Erica is most interested in making immersive sensory theatre experiences for babies including her 2020 co-created work “Twims”. Most recently, she was awarded a residency with Impulse Theatre to begin development of her new show for babies called “Sound Garden”. She is a mother to two young children, Harrison and George.

Monica is a queer, disabled, non-binary Filipinx/Polynesian/English artist and educator of 14 years, living on lək̓wəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ lands with her dog son Juno. Monica works as the Associate Producer of Story Theatre with joy and pride! They are a producer with Rage Sweater Theatre Productions, their disabled QT2BIPOC led theatre company with Adonis Critter King. Monica holds a BA with Distinction in Gender Studies from UVic, and was chosen for the prestigious Netflix Banff Diversity of Voices Initiative in June 2024. Her show Monica vs. The Internet, directed and co-created by Adonis Critter King, was recognized with the 2020 Witness Legacy Award from the Pro Art Alliance/Witness Legacy Blanket. Her artistic work has been produced by Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre (VACT), Why Not Theatre, Living Hyphen, National Theatre School of Canada, and Emerald City Comic Con. Monica is deeply committed to systemic change within the arts, and has advocated and consulted nationally and internationally for disabled QT2BIPOC artists. Monica has completed the ThisGen Producing Fellowship with Why Not Theatre and the Digital Connections Cohort with Greater Vancouver Professional Theatre Alliance (GVPTA). Monica is passionate about the next generation, and builds education guides to accompany productions.
She believes none of us are free until all of us are free, from Pilippines to Falastin.

Filipina-Canadian soprano and theatre artist Abby Corpus (she/her) is thrilled to be returning to Story Theatre this summer! Primarily a performer in opera, she holds a BMus in Voice Performance from the University of Victoria and an Artist Diploma in Voice Performance from the University of Manitoba. She has recently appeared as a soloist with the Victoria Symphony, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, and The Little Opera Company of Winnipeg, and this fall she will be starting a MMus in Voice Performance at the University of Western Ontario.
In addition to her work as a performer, Abby has a wealth of experience in theatrical production and management and also works regularly as a voice teacher, music director, and theatre educator. Dedicated to the art of learning, she is equally excited about teaching and inspiring creativity as she is about growing and delving into new avenues of creative exploration.

Yvonne Kushe (She/Her) is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist, singer-songwriter, and emerging actor whose work blends music, storytelling, and community impact. She has performed at festivals and cultural events across British Columbia and internationally. Yvonne is the founder of PolliNATION Hub, a platform dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices and fostering cross-cultural collaboration. Guided by the Ubuntu philosophy—“I am because we are” (umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu)—she is passionate about creating spaces where art and community intersect.
Story Theatre supports upwards of 30 professional contract artists each year! From designer to actors, playwrights to tour managers, each artist is integral to bringing theatre for young audiences all across BC.
